My Essential Journey

Month 1

I have always been passionate about oils, I did an aromatherapy course many years ago hoping to become an aromatherapist but life redirected me as it does.  I've now come full circle and find that I can really use the benefits of the oils in my life for myself and my family.

I met Sarah doing a home ed class for her children and the first thing that struck me was the wonderful aroma coming from her stunning diffuser.  She lent me her spare pack to take home and try for a few days and I was hooked!  I looked into the whole company and liked the idea of the Essential Rewards but wasn't quite ready to commit to it monthly so waited a few months and planned for it.  I really wanted the starter kit but it was just out of my budget so I forced myself to be patient!

I enrolled in April as I had been away visiting family in South Africa during March.  I had planned to do some home ed make and take workshops to offset the cost of my oils.  With my classes set up and the bits and bobs ordered for the class, I was ready to place my first order.

The way Essential Rewards works is you need to place a minimum of 50 pv (around £50 a month).  In planning my workshop I thought it would be good to talk about top, middle and base notes with the children so I hunted for a combination that would also fit in my price range and settled on Lemon, Cypress and Cedarwood.

A funny story about the Cedarwood, when it arrived I was super excited, opened the lid straight away and took a good sniff and it smelled terrible!! In a panic, I went to Sarah as my classes were only a few days away.  I smelled hers and it was as expected, a lovely old woody smell.  She had just ordered a new Cedarwood herself so we were able to open it and give it a sniff and it had the same strange smell, I said,

"It smells like cat pee!!"

She gave me her old bottle to use for my workshop and we decided that I would open my new bottle and let it breathe like wine.  After a few hours, whatever that strange note was dissipated and it smelled as it should to my great relief.  A few days later we saw a post on our Facebook community where they said that Cedarwood is an ingredient in cat sand so some people will associate the initial smell of it with cat pee.  Sarah and I had a good laugh about that!

For my workshops, I decided to do aromatherapy bracelets.  I already had all the beads as bracelet making is a hobby of ours so all I needed to do was order some 1ml brown glass drams to put the sample oils in for them to take home to use on their bracelets.  Cedarwood is the base oil so I added 5 drops per dram, 10 drops of Cypress and 15 drops of Lemon to make a lovely blend that is uplifting and supporting the respiratory system during the spring hayfever season.  There are a whole host of benefits in all three oils.

The black bead you can see at the bottom is a lava bead, they are great for absorbing and diffusing the oils so you can enjoy the benefits over the course of the day.

The hardest part was waiting till the 1st of the next month before I could place my next order! You can only place on ER order a month so any other oils you order will be a Quick Order but won't count towards your points back so Young Living is teaching you patience and planning! lol
